FOR FAMILIES

Our Preschool Program
Our preschool program is designed and delivered by qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teachers. Unlike many community based preschools, Burrows offers the benefit of long day care hours, being open from 7:30am - 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, for 49 weeks of the year. This means children in those important years in the lead up to school have access to our preschool program for longer. With access to the childcare subsidy(CCS) along with the NSW Government's Start Strong Fee Relief initiative, for some families the cost of attending Burrows is comparable to a community based preschool.

Enrolling Your Child
To enrol at Bellingen Burrows, you will first need to complete our waitlist form

Our Director will be in contact with you once a position becomes available to organise a tour of the centre. Upon acceptance of a position, families are provided with a Parent Handbook and enrolment form to complete, and must include information such as your child's proof of birth and their up to date Medicare immunisation history statement.

Orientation

Families are encouraged to conduct a minimum of at least one (1) orientation visit before they leave their child in our care. These visits allow your child to become familiar with the environment and the educators who will be caring for them. It also allows you to share important information such your child's daily routine with us. The more comfortable you are in the centre, the quicker your child will settle into care.

What to Bring

  • Morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a water bottle. An important part of our program is to promote a well balanced diet.

  • Spare changes of clothing and a wet bag, along with any comforters such as a dummy, or that special comfort toy, are also advisable.

  • All items should be packed in a suitable bag e.g. child’s back pack and labelled with your child’s name.

  • Hats are necessary for outdoor play.

  • Please pack sufficient nappies each day should your child require them.

Sun Safety

We aim to promote an awareness of the dangers of exposure to the sun, use of appropriate skin protection (clothing and sunscreen), and actively encourage and role model practices that will offer protection from the sun.

All children, staff and visitors to the centre are encouraged to wear broad brimmed or legionnaire style hats when involved in outdoor activities.

Families are requested to ensure their children are appropriately dressed for the current weather and season.

During the warmer months of the year, UV ratings are monitored daily and outdoor play and activities will be scheduled or conducted in shaded areas, or indoors instead.

Sunscreen is supplied at the centre for families to apply to their children on arrival and re-applied by educators throughout the day.

Fees/Child Care Subsidy(CCS)

Fees are charged for all days your child is booked into the centre, including Public Holidays, sick days and annual holidays. No fees are charged during our 3 week shutdown over the Christmas period.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a payment made by the Australian Government to help families with the cost of quality child care and early education. This is paid directly to the service to reduce your weekly fees. For more information please visit:

Australian Government CCS

The NSW Government Start Strong Fee Relief initiative is aimed at delivering more affordable preschool to eligible children to encourage enrolments in the two years before school. The fee relief is in addition to and will not impact on your Child Care Subsidy(CCS) payments provided by the Australian Government. Fee relief is not means tested and there are no residency or visa requirements. For more information please visit:
